What we have learned in english

Since the beginning of the year, we have learned a lot about reading and writing in Mr. Hamilton's Senior Expository reading and writing class. First of all, we learned that using descriptive words creates images in the readers mind. For example, in the short story The Last Meow, the author makes it easy to imagine what he is seeing. Mr. Hamilton had us draw some of the sentences from the story, which showed us that everybody imagines things differently. Another thing we learned is, Sentence length creates rhythm in writing. Mr. Hamilton had the class pick random numbers, and then we had to create a paragraph based on the number of words in a sentence. This was difficult because we all had different ideas and different topics, but we worked together to finish it. We ended up writing a paragraph about that assignment, and how hard it as. Also, we learned that all of the sentences in a paragraph have to support the topic sentence. Otherwise, it would not make any sense. We learned that if you do not pay attention to Mr. Hamilton, he gets very upset. Also, he wants his fifty five minutes. SLANT behavior is very important to him.
Today in class, we learned that you cannot agree and disagree at the same time. We also learned how to create a parallel sentace.  All of these things help us become better writers.

Today in class, we learned about how advertising and marketing works. Companies target children, because they don't understand what's healthy and what's not. They only know that food tastes good. They have a large impact on how much their parents spend per year on junk food. They spend about $30 billion a year and their influence on what their parents spend is $600 billion.
